I saw the BBC Horizon series documentary 'The Cell'. The documentary is neat with 3 parts. The documentary starts with the the narrator himself weighing against the equivalent amount of carbon/water/phosphorus/and so on.. He poses us with the question 'that on both weighing machines the elements are the same, but one has life and the other doesn't.
Next comes the series of assumptions/believes/attempts to explain the origin of life form. Then interestingly the lenses part come in. With that starts the experimentation to see things magnified. How the name 'cell' was first addressed.. and then the nucleus.. then the genes.. the experiments.. quite interesting one. May be must watch for one who needs to understand how difficult the science advanced over hundreds of years.. and how we are using the terms 'genes'/'nucleus'/'chromosomes' etc without knowing the magnificent discoveries behind.
